DHi,
My mom and I recently left our house due to my father’s long-term physical and verbal abuse. He’s a manipulative person, and we’re worried he might now harass my married sister, who lives nearby, by sending false or defamatory messages to her in-laws to damage her reputation. He may also use his brother to do this, who has done similar things before.
We don’t expect any financial support from him, but since he’s a retired government employee, my mom’s mediclaim policy (from his job) is a big concern. She recently had major surgery, and we’re worried he might stop paying the insurance or remove her from it out of spite.
Need advice on:
1. How can we legally protect my sister from this harassment in advance?
2. Can we file any preventive restraining order or legal notice?
3. What can we do if he or his brother actually sends such messages?
4. Any way to secure my mom’s mediclaim legally?
