May 6, 2025 at 8:20 pmI am staying in a PG in Koramangala Bnglr. My roommate does not co-operate in anything and fights for everything. Main problem is she keeps lights on till late and talks on phone in room at night , all this affects my sleep. Today, she was doing some packing for her trip, she kept light on till late and brought her friend in room and was talking on vc on speaker with friends. Last night she was on vc, a day before she was painting her nails after midnight.Loud noises and lights on have severely affected my anxiety levels and sleep . Also, that I am unable to get up in morning to do breakfast.
I talked to my owner and she just dropped her a text. Nothing changed. Now I want to change the PG, but she won’t return my rent of this month I paid nor the deposit money (bcs vacating pg should be informed one month prior). But changing room, is because of her inability to solve conflicts in her PG.
What police case can I do, to get my money back. Can I do case on my roommate for mental harassment (bcs today they intentionally talked loud trying to disturb).
How should I collect proofs for the same.
Also, I am rajathani, non native. Will bangalore police accept my complaint, bcs lot of issues coming up these days for lack of support from police.

May 6, 2025 at 8:29 pmNot a lawyerObviously the police in your own village area won’t file fir for such a small matter. Like it boils down to switching on light at night.
You should shift to other room or switch off the light again and again.

May 6, 2025 at 8:33 pmI have already shifted the room in this same PG once bcs of same issue. And now after a week this new roommate she too started the same problem. The owner is useless in this problem, she just says softly to her once , but that does not yield any result. But owner is not returning money, when I want to shift Pg, can’t I do any case on her.

May 6, 2025 at 8:41 pmWhat was your agreement with your pg owner? If she already informed or it’s there in the contract that you need to give advance notice. Only then it will be applicable for going into legal case on her.As this is an interpersonal matter, best to resolve with mutually with your new roomate on light off timings.

May 6, 2025 at 10:07 pmNot judging but if there are same issues across multiple instances then the common element is most probably the main issue – in this case it could be you! Have you tried to sort this out calmly with them and tried to be adjusting rather than thinking of raising a police complaint on such a petty matter?
Please do try and consult a therapist for the anxiety that you mentioned, Iβm sure itβd help a lot-

May 7, 2025 at 7:54 amI have talked her about this twice. With politeness. Her everyday behaviour and new tactics is what gives me anxiety, about what new she will do today.
Somedays she does nailart, post 12 am, somedays other things, yesterday she talked on group voice call chat on speaker mode. You can understand how loud sound will be in silence of night. And when start shouting and laughing etc. all such petty actions are new for me . Her actions are inhumane, and that’s what gives me anxiety by sharing with her.

May 6, 2025 at 8:51 pmIf your rental agreement says you need to give month notice that shall be honored, the landlord shall return initial deposit – deductions – one months rent. This only changes if the place is not habitable, the landlord mostly is not responsible for your roommates actions.
Invest in a sleeping mask and ear plugs.

May 7, 2025 at 3:15 amYou wanna go through all that hassle for 1 month rent ? I can assure you it will not be worth it.
1 month passes fairly quickly. You file legal complaint – you case date itself may be few months later.Just use the time wisely to look for the next PG or other room to share.

May 7, 2025 at 6:46 amDo the same for your roomate, don’t let her sleep for a day or two (your sleep is already disturbed).
Give them the taste of their own.-

May 7, 2025 at 7:45 amWake up at 4 and start doing some pooja or talk to customer care for no reason with lights turned on. This will help.-

May 7, 2025 at 7:56 amBro , what a amazing idea. But what after that, will she automatically understand. Her ego is fragile.-

May 7, 2025 at 8:04 amWhen you do this, you have to make up your mind for everything. It could go either way. If it goes fine, be happy about it. If not, move out. This can’t be continued forever.

May 7, 2025 at 7:36 pmI guess if you are so touchy. Please live in a separate room altogether, and separate flat if possible. If you think of going through a legal route here, the other party may conjure something too.. leave that place ASAP
