May 9, 2025 at 8:53 amI worked at a small company focused on children’s education until February 2024, and was asked to leave without proper notice because I wasn’t working like the others employees without asking any questions. To top it off, I received only 10k for my final settlement, with no breakdown, even though I was owed more. My reimbursement wasn’t included either. Here’s a quick rundown of my experience:
-I was left to handle events and tasks on my own, despite being promised support.
-My supervisor frequently abandoned me during events, citing boredom or other personal matters.
-I ended up doing almost all the promotional work and handling the company’s Instagram and office phone messages.
-I managed interns and organized a major event, but my supervisor rarely took responsibility, leaving me to handle everything.
-I designed the website’s frontend, attended meetings on my day off, and handled various tasks without much guidance or support.
-My Boss would say I needed mentorship, but then leave me stranded. When I got overwhelmed, I was called “all over the place” and be told that I need help, funnily enough, my manager was a mental health expert
Throughout my time there, I was constantly belittled and expected to do more than what was in my job description. Now, I’ve been paid less than expected for my final settlement, with no clear explanation.
What should I do? Should I push for a clearer breakdown, or just move on? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been through something similar.
