MWhile trying to turn right (indicator on ofc) to park my Vespa I stopped to let the guy behind me pass so that I don’t impede him while turning but he braked too hard instead of going around and fell.
He was near about 10 feet behind me when i braked and he fell 2-3 feet behind my vehicle. No vehicular contant took place. I asked him if he was ok but he got up and started charging at me with I’ll intent and so as to not engage in road rage I parked my vehicle in my building and started sprinting to my apartment but he ran in, grabbed me by my collar and started verbally assaulting me before getting physical with me (slapped me in the face and pushed me into a pillar). I threatened to call the cops which he was in support of due to his political influence (I was unaware of him).
Now the nearby shopkeeper got involved and started verbally assaulting me too while the political bitch boy was pushing and pulling me around with his partner. Eventually my neighbours tried to deescalate the situation but he continued to assault me physically and verbally while the neighbors comforted bitch boy and telling me off for “bad mouthing” an older person.
After the situation was deescalated and bitch boy left and so did i, everyone came back to me telling me not to get involved with people who have political influence (counsil member or something idk). The shopkeeper also told me he saw what happened but did not want to come to my defence because of who it was.
Now that bitch boy knows where I live and knows my license plate number, I am scared he might have someone steal my Vespa or send some goons to my apartment. I feel rather helpless as I doubt I can pursue a legal case against him. I doubt my neighbours or the shopkeeper will testify against him. They might even falsely testify against me.
Laws he broke: failed to travel a safe distance in behind the vehicle in front; multiple counts of physical assault, engaging in road rage; (I guess misuse of power and influence but idk)
TLDR: Counsil member falls because he didn’t see a stopped vehicle, physically assaulted me multiple times, neighbours and nearby shopkeeper take his side when he is present and back to my side once he left. Scared he might send someone to steal my scooter or send goons to my apartment.

MYea. I wasn’t wearing my helmet cam then and I doubt my neighbours and the shopkeeper will testify against him. Will start wearing it all the time now, even for minor errands.

RWelcome to India where judiciary is a mess. The irony is common people like us can do nothing, nor police nor judiciary is in favour of a common man, still we brag about how great we are. What happened to OP is one of my fear as well, in the situation OP is, he can’t get help from Police or he cannot put a case against this person in court, even if he had proof because Police, unless having some pressure from above, will not entertain in such situation and a case can be filed in the court, but it will take 15 years for judgement to come and in this 15 years, God knows what this kind of influential goon can do to helpless, common man, which we have to accept most of us are. Such assaults can only get justice if they goes viral on some social media platform, but we should ask whether we want to really depend upon going viral to get justice? I feel sad for OP.

SFile a complaint in police station regarding it and they didn’t take necessary action file a private complaint towards the magistrate.

MAgain, I am afraid of the support I’ll receive. I just want precautionary advice in case he tries to retaliate.

SPoliticans has limits. They aren’t god or anything and not all officials can’t be bribed. Ordinary citizen has many ways includes cases to court, Complaint to collector & CM and so on.

UDude if u really want to stand up for yourself then just contact any decent lawyer…no political person is big enough for them otherwise there is no magical remedy here.

MI make ₹25k a month. I can’t afford a lawyer, let alone a good one. Additionally, this is india. The chances of these guys buying out any judge is extremely high. I might have to end up paying him.
I know sure as shit none of the eye witnesses will testify against him considering they supported him during the incident.

SDon’t get involved in political goons.
They will bring more men screw over your mother and sisters and you will be helpless to anything about it.
Forget the incident and move on.
Law will not help you, all of the lawyers will not be able to do anything when there is an actual political influence involved.
Laws made for common men not for the political in world people.
