SMy friends parents received a police summon asking them come to the police station regarding a complaint filed by someone. The police summon does not say what the complaint is about nor does it have any authority seal. It has a signature of a police officer. Their lawyer has strongly suggested NOT TO GO to the police station as he’s handling this legally via the court so no need to go to the station as this is a civil case. However their family members keep getting call from the police station asking them to visit and if they failed to go there on the said date an arrest warrant will be issued. Can you guys help me understand if it’s mandatory for them to go or can it be avoided?

Inform them that your lawyer has advised that they are taking care of it and no need to go there. Inform them to call your lawyer, /start a conference call with your lawyer and police.
