KHi everyone,
My father is a central government employee and had a service matter pending against his department. We won the case in Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) a few years back. The department partially complied with the CAT order but then filed an appeal in Allahabad High Court in 2017, which has been hanging in limbo ever since.
It now feels like the department’s strategy is to drag the case until my father retires and then just close the matter without giving full service benefits that he is lawfully entitled to. The whole process has been mentally exhausting for him and for us as a family.
To make things worse, the advocate representing my father rarely communicates — no updates for months, and then suddenly demands random sums of money, claiming the case will be “settled this time.” It’s hard to trust such promises anymore, and we feel totally stuck.
I would really appreciate it if someone familiar with how Allahabad High Court functions could share some insights. Also, if you know any reliable and experienced service matter lawyers who practice in Allahabad HC, please recommend them.
Any advice or personal experience would be incredibly helpful. Thank you in advance.

MDepending on the nature of the matter, retirement would not make any difference as to the outcome.
I would suggest meeting the lawyer and getting the matter listed citing impending retirement. The pendency situation in this High Court as per news reports and feedback from lawyers is not great.
Plus matters which travel from CAT are listed before a division bench.
