WAs stated in the title, a new liquor shop has opened right next to my house, which has led to instances of public drinking and created an unsettling and unsafe environment.
The area is an approved residential zone under the Agra Development Authority. Within a 500-meter radius, there are three schools, including a pre-nursery school and a senior secondary school. Additionally, there are two public temples located within 150 meters, both situated within societies but frequently used by the general public.
A few days ago, my father, who is a retired Army officer, along with other residents, submitted an application to the District Magistrate. On the same day, one of the shop workers came to our house and threatened my father. He claimed that the shop owner has significant connections and could ensure my father’s government pension is stopped. He also threatened to force our family to vacate our home. This incident took place in front of five witnesses.
In response, we wrote an application and filed a complaint, but the police station refused to register an FIR. Instead, the next day, a police officer visited our area and attempted to console us by promising to address public drinking and assigning a constable to the area. However, today, we saw three individuals openly drinking on the street. When the police officer visited again, his tone and words made it clear that the liquor shop would not be relocated, and he appeared to be persuading us to accept its presence.
At this point, we are uncertain about what actions we can take to resolve this issue.
