FBit of a background. Couple of weeks back one of my credit cards was tried to be used outside India. It was declined however. I immediately temporarily blocked the credit card.
After that I got a online order whatsapp message from official handle that I have ordered something and asked me to share location for delivery. I did not order anything at all. It is from that site’s official WhatsApp handle.
Fast forward one week, I got a message to verify my profile details in one of the payments app. Without giving much thought, I clicked that link and filled it. It asked for my father’s name, salary and occupation. Later realised should not done it. (Brain fade moment)
Due to the chain of events, I got afraid someone is trying to misuse my name and details and filed a cyber complaint online about the last KYC message received along with the URL I received.
After doing this, I blocked and closed my credit card. Deleted that delivery app account and closed that payment app account as well.
The cyber complaint I filed just got forwarded to my district yesterday, I decided to withdraw it online itself as I have closed all suspicious accounts. But still got message that complaint is forwarded to nearest police station.
What will happen now? Should I visit the station? Or wait for them to call me? Will there be any consequences as no money was lost and yet I filed the complaint out of fear? Please help 🙏
