March 31, 2025 at 2:55 amI’m trying to find out which lawyer at Tis Hazari Court in Delhi managed the most civil cases during 2024. Does anyone know if there are official records, databases, or legal directories that track case filings and lawyer performance metrics?I have considered the following options:
– Checking with the Court Administration or Registry
– Looking into records from the Delhi Bar Council
– Using the e-Courts system, although I’m not sure if it allows sorting by the number of cases handled by each lawyer
– Consulting legal directories
– Filing an RTI application
Has anyone had experience accessing this kind of data? Or do you have contacts at Tis Hazari who might guide me in the right direction? I’m looking for reliable data, not just hearsay.

March 31, 2025 at 5:13 amI help people find lawyers, but the current options for finding lawyers in different areas aren’t very good. Google reviews can sometimes be misleading, and websites like LawRato aren’t very reliable either. I often get inquiries from people asking me which lawyer to choose for specific cases, so I have to do a lot of manual research to figure out which lawyers actually handle the types of cases they need help with.Right now, I’m looking for experienced lawyers in civil cases. I’m exploring ways to find them without relying on Google Maps, JustCall, or LawRato, as I’m hoping there might be other methods to identify experienced lawyers in the specific field I need. I’ve noticed that some lawyers take on cases they’re not necessarily well-versed in, and simply looking at the number of civil cases a lawyer has handled can give a clearer picture of their experience in that area of practice.

March 31, 2025 at 6:01 amNot necessarily, a certain lawyer might have a huge number of briefs obtained via connections, inheritance even, but that doesn’t translate to an experienced handling of cases.Furthermore, in India majority of cases are filed through Junior Lawyer to escape liability and other related shenanigans, so the number of cases filed as a marker goes out of the window.
The situation is sad, BUT there aren’t many reliable markers.
Maybe peer reviews can be a thing, but that would require you to survey the bars. YMMV though.

March 31, 2025 at 6:21 amThis is really challenging. I’ve collected three years’ worth of data from the e-court system and I’m trying to use AI to identify which lawyer is mentioned the most. However, even AI struggles because many names contain “Kumar” and “Singh,” making it hard to pinpoint who is being referred to the most. My PDF doesn’t help with this either.Sometimes, the names are just “Prakash” without any surname, which complicates things even further. I understand that clients are frustrated by this, and it’s one of the reasons why so many people end up getting scammed by lawyers. There’s basically no proper system in India to check which lawyer has the highest volume in a specific practice area.
I’m not sure if it would help to call each court to see if they have this kind of data, but I suspect they probably don’t.

March 31, 2025 at 7:46 amHi OP, it’s hard to recommend lawyers based on the sheer number of cases filed/argued. We don’t really have a system like the US either, where lawyers keep track of the cases won or lost. The lawyers with the most number of cases filed/argued aren’t always the best lawyers, they could just be really good at selling themselves, which is different from being a good lawyer, or they could get a lot of cases from their parents/relatives, if they were lawyers, too. Most of what you’d find will likely be hearsay.

March 31, 2025 at 6:04 amYou might be hit with some barricades as Advocates are not supposed to advertise their practice and recently the Bar Council has also issued a notice regarding this.-

March 31, 2025 at 6:24 amFinding a lawyer with the most civil cases in Tis Hazari is quite challenging. There are so many lawyers named Kumar and Singh, which makes it even harder for AI to figure out who holds the record for the most cases.

March 31, 2025 at 7:35 amBut he hasn’t said anywhere that he’s advertising the services of lawyers. He said people approach him, and he recommends lawyers based on their experience. That’s different from advertising/soliciting/any other bar on lawyers. If he was recommending only one lawyer for every single person who approached him, that might be a violation of the Advocate’s Act. But this, to me, seems fine.
