March 29, 2025 at 8:32 amNeed help regarding a property that was put out for rent and now they won’t leave. We have an ancestral property which we had given out to run businesses years ago. Now, this was, I don’t know some 40-50 years ago or so.
There is no legal document saying what is on rent and what is not. And that is because my grandfather and great grandfather used to help people out and give them spaces to run their shops. Without paying the rent to us.
People from villages used to come and they had no money or place to live so our ancestors did the good deed and gave some families a space to earn for their livelihood. Now the thing is, all the families left the place and moved ahead in their lives. Some by choice, some by negotiations etc. but there is this one family who wouldn’t budge at all.
We have literally tried everything but they won’t leave.
They haven’t paid a single rupee for rent all these years. Just using it as they want.
We want them out. We have tried talking to them, asked them politely and did everything but these are some low level leeches who threatened us that they will involve local goons and politicians and will never leave, no matter what. We even offered them money, they denied. We all know how exhausting the legal process in this country is. This is why we are not taking any legal action, but let’s say that we do, what are the consequences?
What should we do here? What are the options?
