March 28, 2025 at 3:06 amMe and my wife got registered in the US last year and she is on a dependent visa with the US marriage certificate. We are both Indian citizens and will be doing the Indian ceremony this year.
The ceremony is just for family.
We want to register our US marriage in India as well using the same US marriage date as our immigration records are using that.
Is that okay and possible?
Would the Indian marriage ceremony taking place cause any issues? I just wanna consider it a party and nothing for legal purposes.
How does one go about doing this? -

March 28, 2025 at 7:03 amThat sounds like a thoughtful way to celebrate your marriage with family while keeping things legally aligned! You can register your US marriage in India under the Foreign Marriage Act, 1969, by getting your US marriage certificate apostilled and then submitting it to the local registrar in India. The Indian ceremony wonβt cause legal issues as long as you clarify that itβs just a celebration. Itβs great that youβre thinking ahead to ensure everything matches your immigration records!
