Help.
I’m being harrassed and threatened by loan recovery agents, I took a loan from an app, and was supposed to pay it back in installments, but to my horror they levied an interest of 10k on a small loan. Now they’re calling me 100 times a day and abusing me to repay them back asap and threatening to visit my home and create a ruckus. I am only a college student and I stay alone in a pg and am scared of what would happen if they show up. Due to some financial constraints, I am unable to repay right now, but the due date is still 10 days away, yet they are calling and threatening me to repay. I’m scared and since I’m a girl, they could misuse my information that I have given access to when I took the loan. All of this has drained me mentally.
Any suggestions / advice please on how to deal with these goons. -
SToo little info. Also, while taking a loan you must’ve known it’ll come with interest.
That being said, there are clear Supreme Court verdicts that one cannot be harassed for repayment of loan or interest or both.
So, file a GD in your local Police station. And, also inform your parents, since you’re a student and probably is not financially independent yet.
Next time they call, let them know you’ll go to the police if they escalate further and also that a GD has been filed.

PI tried to keep it short and precise. Basically, I took a loan of only 19000, they levied an extra interest of 10500 on it and I was supposed to repay it in installments, i paid two installments, now they’ve been constantly calling and threatening to repay the remaining amount as soon as possible, like i said, the due date is still 10 days away. I read more about it, I checked the reviews of the app on the appstore and turns out they really do harass customers and threaten to morph their pictures and send them to contacts. They call from random international numbers and even though I have Truecaller for filtering all the spam calls, i still keep getting them.

SSounds like coercion and fraud. Also, under which sun is people charging 10,500 interest for 19,000 principal amount? Involve police, if need be. This is a clean case of harassment and taking u due privilege.
Further, you are a woman, so your case may involve sexual harrasment angle as well. Best of luck. Contact an advocate in your vicinity if need so arises.
