March 26, 2025 at 2:35 pmI (Class 11 student)(17M) and my mother (44F)have been facing brutal beatings from my father for years. The bruises from his assaults have lasted for several months. He refuses to provide financial support even in urgent situations.
He lives with another woman while still legally married to my mother and has abandoned us on 2st February, 2025. His behavior at home has been disturbing—spits all around the house,he walks around nude, in front of my 9 yr old sister, creating an uncomfortable environment. Most of his relatives support him, leaving us with little family support.
We are seeking legal advice on:
1. Ensuring financial support for my mother and me.
2. Taking legal action against the abuse.
3. Protecting ourselves from further interference.
Any guidance on applicable laws, legal aid, or NGOs that can assist us would be greatly appreciated.

March 26, 2025 at 2:50 pmYour mother can file a complaint under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 to seek protection orders, residence rights, and financial support. For *Financial assistance,* she can also file a case under Section 125 CrPC to claim maintenance for both of you.
Since your father’s actions are abusive, filing an FIR under Sections 323, 506, 509, or 498A of the IPC can help ensure accountability. Additionally, she can pursue custody of your sister through the Guardians and Wards Act, 1890, and apply for a restraining order if necessary.
For legal aid and counseling, reach out to organizations like Sakhi One Stop Centres, National Commission for Women (NCW), or your local District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). Keeping evidence like medical reports, photographs, or threatening messages can strengthen your case.

March 26, 2025 at 3:33 pmWhat would be the additional charges for his adultery? That would be very useful for OP.-

March 26, 2025 at 7:34 pmUnfortunately, adultery is no longer a criminal offense in India. However, OP’s mother can use it as a ground for divorce and it may influence decisions on alimony, maintenance, and custody.

March 26, 2025 at 5:43 pmHi dude , my life’s been quite similar and the most important thing to do here is bari theke onno kothao asroy newa. I don’t know if there’s any ngo that can help but what my mom did was – she took me and amra alada thaka shuru kori , and yes , my mom didn’t have any earnings back then. Kichu savings ba ja ache- na thakle kono trusted relative er theke dhar newa , but also depends on your relationship with your mom’s side of the family. But it’s very crucial je tomra ei situation e involve er theke beshi kibhabe alada howa jaye sheta dekho. Because 90% etai hobe that no matter how much you’d try to explain things to your father, he won’t understand. Jodi bojhar hoto ajke eta hoto na.
Now if nothing’s working out , the only way is that you’re in 11th , work hard to get your mom and sister out of this situation after two years.
But believe me though, It’s crucial for you guys to move out somehow. 11th and 12th pcmb is difficult enough and you do need a sane environment to study.
Now about the money factor, if it feels like there isn’t enough , biswas kor taka chole ashe obhab thakleo. School fees and books er jonneo. Ekbar just shahosh kor, that’s all . Onek dokan e vacancies o thake cashiers and all er where you won’t need high qualifications. I don’t know auntie’s financial background but if she doesn’t have it then there’s options like such.
And previous post e dekhlam that in laws are being supportive of your dad, which was literally the same as my case, hence , speaking from experience, ekhan theke berono ta somehow is important as support is very limited from IRL people.-

March 26, 2025 at 5:49 pmAnd also, dunno if you’re from Kolkata or not but if you’re from here then idk how much the police can help , or the court. And it may take a long time. Hence escape first, don’t totally depend on law and order-

March 27, 2025 at 7:44 amgather video proof (stronger than images) record his acts using cellphone and once u get evidence, go to nearest police station. And seek help of child welfare commitee (u can search online) in your vicinity. They will provide counselling for you and your mom. I pray that you and mom heal and move on.-

March 27, 2025 at 7:59 amGet to work, get an internship or job along with studies, work either morning or evening. Once you reach to cover your family’s bare minimum expenses, throw him out of that house.
Everytime he tries to come back beat the shit out of him, except don’t kill him, just carefully beat him with all might. Seek help from police , NGO’s for safety of your mother and sister.
Now once you have achieved peace , it’s time to grow your income , learn a high income skill and either get a better job or start a business.
11-12 study in science, but in college don’t choose pure science except mathematics, choose commerce or economics. Because to grow you need financial knowledge. Other subjects will not give you that.
Good Luck Bro. -

March 27, 2025 at 9:25 amOP, try to record everything and protect your sister and mother at all costs. Approach your closed ones for support, or else go for a lawyer directly, and file a divorce case against your father immediately.-

March 28, 2025 at 7:37 pmI have seen your post in Kolkata thread,I am a class 12th passout so I don’t have 11th standard books
I recommend that you try to search for books on a website called
z-library.sk
You can get RD Sharma and Physics book for class 11th CBSE, chemistry modern ABC might be available on the website
E-books but still a viable choice
Also OP, your mother can try to work in a jewellery store if the option is there or some service center job to not rely on your father

March 30, 2025 at 5:34 amHi kid, the other sub where you shared a whatsapp chat has closed comments which is why I’m writing it here. I was a PCMB student and might have few of the books that you need. I passed out of school years back so it might not be the latest version. If you’d like any, i can send it to you via India post.-
