Should I apply for EWS certificate?

Four years ago I had applied for EWS certificate and I got my real EWS certificate. my family annual income is less than 8 lakhs i.e. 5 lakhs. I thought I was eligible for EWS as my family income criteria is sattisfied.

But recently I came to know that EWS also has other criteria like “residental plot area…”, etc. And I think my house area exceeds that, I am not sure about this house area.

But then my question is, how did I got EWS certificate? Even my brother got EWS certificate two years ago. I definietely know that my mother did not give any bribe or anything. Or am I eligible and just overthinking? Is it even possible to get ews certificate without bribing and not being eligible?

Do government officials even cross check if a person is eligible or not?

I think if I apply for EWS certificate than I would get it. But if in reality I am not eligible than should I even apply for EWS certificate?

I am probably going to an IIT, so I think I should think about this.
