College Demanding Fine for short attendance due to medical reasons

Hello all, I am pursuing my B.Tech and due to medical reasons, I was unable to attend the first half of my fourth semester. Now the college is demanding that I pay 1 lakh rupees.

I know that college can cancel your exams for short attendance but this seems extremely overboard for me. Also, I checked my college’s rules and there is no such fine rule in place.

Can the college really enforce this? Or is this a form of a bribe?

Ask your college to give this to you in writing, if they don’t do it then write a complaint to the AICTE and the UGC.
You always have the option to file a case of they don’t let you sit for your exam.
