March 20, 2025 at 5:48 pmHello everyone, Iโm from Nepal, and I have a question regarding my grandmotherโs pension eligibility in India. My grandmother, who is also Nepali, worked in a **government-owned factory in India as a sewing worker** , i am not exactly sure was it government or private ( is there a provison of pension in private big complanies?) , she had worked over 25 years and was eligible for a pension. However, due to health complications of her husband , she had to extend her leave beyond the approved period (by around 2โ3 months). When she returned to finalize her pension and retire, she was informed that she was no longer eligible because of her extended absence.
At that time, we didnโt consult a lawyer,we had noone in India and none of our family member are educated and she had no one to guide her except her employer. It has now been about 12 years since this happened, but I am curious if there is still any possibility for her to claim the pension.
* Is there any legal provision that might allow her to recover her pension benefits?
* What steps should we take now to investigate this further?Any guidance or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
