Way to get the Marriage certificate before Marriage?

Hi guys,

I’m a NRI working outside of India.

My fiance will be moving with me after marriage. Basically the visa processing will start only if there’s a marriage certificate.

As a traditional sentiment, our parents don’t want us to get married in register office and wanted us to wait for actual marriage, and then apply for marriage certificate.

Our parents are bit old-school in thought, and we are fine with this. I’m just wondering, what is the process of applying for the marriage certificate? We wanted just to get the marriage certificate simply by signing, and without any act of mangalsutra and things like that – as it will be saved for actual wedding as per the parent’s wish.

Location – Chennai.

Just get married in register and then have the ceremony later.
