        Hi everyone, I need some guidance on how to approach a frustrating situation with my refrigerator. I bought a Godrej four-door refrigerator in November 2023 for around ₹90,000. It was a premium model and fairly new in the market at the time of purchase.

        In November 2024, the warranty expired, and soon after that, the fridge stopped cooling. I booked a service request with Godrej, but the technician couldn’t identify the actual issue. Instead of diagnosing the problem properly, they kept ordering and replacing different parts one by one, hoping it would fix the issue.

        Each part took 2–3 weeks to arrive due to unavailability of stock. It’s been around 5–6 months now, and the fridge is still not fixed. After repeatedly following up, I was finally told that this specific fridge model was basically launched as a test product. The company itself doesn’t have proper parts or expertise to fix it.

        Despite all this, they continue to charge me for service visits and replacement parts. I’ve requested them to replace the fridge, but they clearly denied it. It’s summer now, and I have a non-functional fridge at home with no clear resolution in sight. I’m extremely frustrated with this endless cycle of repairs and zero accountability from Godrej.

        At this point, I’m planning to go the legal route. I believe I received a defective product and Godrej’s customer service has been extremely poor. They’ve shown no ownership of the problem, and I feel cheated.

        Can someone please guide me on the best way to proceed legally in India? Should I approach the consumer court? Has anyone faced a similar issue? Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

          Hi. I’m a Delhi based lawyer. As a first step, send them a legal notice asking for replacement of the fridge and refund of all the ancillary expenses you may have incurred on it till now, for repair. In addition to that, a hefty amount towards all the mental agony caused to you in the process. Incase you don’t wish for replacement of the fridge, ask for refund of the amount paid for purchase of the fridge. If it doesn’t do you any good, file a consumer complaint.
