May 8, 2025 at 3:27 pmSo a friend of mine asked me to post this on this sub because he is not on reddit.
Basically, he saw an ad on Facebook regarding a franchise store of Amul ice cream(comes under Hatsun Agro). He was interested and connected over email and whatsapp with the “executive” or whoever was the scammer at the other end. The whatsapp number looked legit cos it was a business account and contained all the information of Hatsun Agro. After several discussions over phone calls and text messages, my friend decided to go ahead with the franchise and made a payment of 1 lakh 50 thousand INR and asked the scammer to provide an official confirmation document or something. Here’s where things got fishy and my friend instantly knew he fkd up. He received an agreement copy of DOMINOS instead of Amul or Hatsuπ now this is someone I’ve known since ages and is a really sharp individual so I was really surprised he fell for something like this.
When asked why there is a domino’s logo, the scammer said its a typing mistake(lol). He further asked my friend to file GST and stuff.
My friend then went to the official address given on his whatsapp number and found out this has happened with a lot of people before and there have already been numerous complaints filed. My friend was asked to file a police complaint from his end. However he was told the chances of getting his money back are bleak and next to nil.Is there any way he can get his money back from the scammer? The dude has ghosted my friend and is not answering his calls anymore.

May 8, 2025 at 3:41 pmI guess he can lodge a complaint with nearest cyber crime cell with the details of beneficiary account information. They will freeze the bank account and owner needs to report to unfreeze it for further operation. Happened with my friend who got scammed for 3500 -
