Passport Application for New Born

Good morning all!

My wife and I are NRIs are soon to welcome our first child. We have decided to have our baby in India and seek some information about the baby’s passport application.

We will be in Pune for the birth of our baby and are planning to apply for passport from here. However, my wife and I both don’t have any address proofs under our name in Pune.

Should we apply for the baby’s passport from one of our home cities? Or can we apply from Pune?

We prefer to have it done in Pune due to the convenience. The house we are living in is registered to my in-laws name if that helps.
