Formalizing a science Club – Trust vs Society for small membership?

I’m planning to formally establish a Club with a relatively small group of niche science enthusiasts. Our main focus is on astronomy, and community outreach (all non-profit). We don’t expect to have a large membership base (15-20 active members initially).

I’m trying to decide between registering as a Trust or a Society and need advice on which would be better for our situation.

**Questions:**

1.⁠ ⁠For a small club in Chennai, would a Trust or Society be more appropriate?

2.⁠ ⁠What are the practical differences in terms of ongoing compliance and administrative burden?

3.⁠ ⁠Are there tax implications I should consider for either structure?
