March 11, 2025 at 4:18 pmIn Manipur, surnames or family names have a lots of variations. In my case, My surname is “**Rajkumar**” as is written in PAN and Aadhaar Cards. It is completely acceptable to write it as **R.K.** or “**RK**” as is written in all my academic certificates. However, the surname is a literal Hindi translation of the word “**Ningthemcha**” or “**Ningthemchamayum**”. My actual name, say Samarjeet will remain the same. What I want is to change from “RK Samarjeet” (Aadhaar) or “Rajkumar Samarjeet” (passport/PAN) to “Ningthemcha Samarjeet” or “**Samarjeet Ningthemcha**”. There is no change in the implied meaning, just the wording from Hindi to Manipuri.Surname or Family name: From RK/Rajkumar to Ningthemcha
Actual Name: From Samarjeet to Samarjeet (No Change)
How and where do I approach to to such a name change? I am from Manipur, currently residing in Hyderabad, Telangana.
