March 11, 2025 at 4:45 amI am a male residing outside of India.
Got married at the end of 2023 in India. It was not a social thing, but a mere registry and celebrated the occasion with less than 250 relatives, from both sides.
I flew back from India within 20 days of getting married.
Since then, I have never been to India.
Recently, back in November 2024(less than a year of marriage) she decided to get divorced, to which, I tried my best to understand why she took the step. She has refused to even reconsider, God knows I have tried.
Whatever allegations she has thrown at me are all fake to the truest of my knowledge.
We have a joint account, to which I solely have transferred funds and have never taken anything out from. My family has gifted her with a lot of jwellery, that not only has monetary value but also has sentimal attachments.
Her claims are all basically fake and her family has always tried to achieve the divorce mutually. To this, we have agreed and have decided to carry on with the procedure. We are expecting to get the exchange of goods done before filing the petition.I am seeking a lawyer, experienced in divorces, and would be willing to fight the case for me and my family.
What we want is :
1. The Divorce
2. Exchange of goods
Among other things I can’t really think of.Exchange of goods is also important if not equally, since it has a lot of sentimental value.
Inbox is open to lawyers who’s willing to help.
Thanks for the anticipated help.

March 11, 2025 at 5:06 amDude. We all know work matters but leaving a woman after just 20 days of marriage and coming back after 1.5 years later?. What were you thinking?-

March 11, 2025 at 5:13 amWell, it’s not work. It’s studies.
Never planned to get married in the first place, got it for other reasons.Never got back, however, she always had the provision of coming here. And that would all be paid by me.
We did have this talk before getting married. And we were comfortable with the idea of settling abroad. However, she changed her mind on her own and I was okay with it as well, cause you know, human rights!
We seeked alternative solutions, like me going back permanently within a few years(less than 5) and ofc visits in between. -

March 11, 2025 at 5:36 amSo you disbanded your wife after 20 days for more than a year and wondering what you did wrong. You are a moron. But from a legal standpoint, if marriage is under Hindu marriage act then challenge the marriage. If there has been no rituals this is not a valid marriage, challenge it and file case against her for theft.
If you married under special marriage act, see if you followed all processes. I doubt it. If not, again challenge the marriage.

March 11, 2025 at 5:49 amI saw. Feeble justifications. Why did you not visit her? Let me not get into it. Just get a decent lawyer and move on. Be a better husband next time.-

March 11, 2025 at 5:53 am:’)
Lost my ligament. Was out of a job for 3 months, spent all my savings in the marriage.
P.S : Was away for less than a year and was literally talking to immigration lawyers to get her here. Also, was planning to visit last year December, however she decided in November.I got abroad on a student visa. Not a work visa. π
She knew and we both agreed.
My part time job pays 1.3k USD per month. She earns 250usd per month.
Was not financially feasible any time sooner. :’)-

March 11, 2025 at 5:42 am1. Is she living with you? Or she is in India and you are abroad? If you’ve failed at all the reconciliation efforts, there could be reasons that she has, which made her come to this decision. You could ask her for a heart to heart chat or a counsellor’s help, if you feel you want the marriage to work.2. If you want to go ahead with the divorce, mutual consent divorce is least stressful and faster in terms of time. But before you file, discuss on all the settlements that have to take place. [https://divorcebylaw.com/mutual-divorce-lawyer-in-bengaluru/](https://divorcebylaw.com/mutual-divorce-lawyer-in-bengaluru/) Do you have any proof to show that you & your family has given valuable gifts to her? Talk to her about returning the gifts given to her, if she’s not willing to you may have to have the elders of both the families to have a discussion.
3. even after the discussions, she is not willing to return the gifts or her demands in terms of alimony/ maintenance in unreasonable either you can ask her to get back to you by filing the Restitution of Conjugal Rights [https://divorcebylaw.com/restitution-of-conjugal-rights/](https://divorcebylaw.com/restitution-of-conjugal-rights/)
or File a contested divorce on the grounds of cruelty for demanding divorce despite you want to make the marriage work and falsely accusing you [https://divorcebylaw.com/best-contested-divorce-lawyers-in-bangalore/](https://divorcebylaw.com/best-contested-divorce-lawyers-in-bangalore/)
