March 7, 2025 at 5:59 pmHey everyone, I need urgent help regarding a CBSE subject change while transferring to an overseas school.I am currently in Class 11 at a CBSE school in India, studying Political Science and History. I am transferring to a CBSE-affiliated school in Oman for Class 12, but there’s a subject mismatch—the Oman school doesn’t offer Political Science or History. Instead, they offer Sociology and Marketing.
The Oman school told me that they will admit me first and then request CBSE for a subject change. However, they also said that if CBSE doesn’t approve the change, I will have to repeat Class 11.
My Questions:
1. Does CBSE allow subject changes when transferring between CBSE schools in different countries?
2. Has anyone gone through a similar situation? If so, was the subject change approved?
3. Is there any way to confirm this with CBSE before I take admission and pay the fees?
4. Would it be safer to continue with NIOS instead of taking the risk with CBSE?I don’t want to pay the admission fees and security deposit only to find out later that I have to repeat Class 11. I have emailed CBSE, but I need urgent guidance from anyone who has faced this before.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
