March 6, 2025 at 8:28 pmHi.
I am an Indian National who is going to marry a Dhaka based GF.We are stuck in a loop where X visa is a without employment but I want her to able to work in India as well. But employment visa is not long term visa.
She is not eligible for OCI as she is from Bangladesh.
What could be our best way to tackle this situation. Additionally, it would be great if someone can help us with the process of registering the marriage in India. -

March 6, 2025 at 10:11 pmThe exception to this rule is oci through marriage… if she marries you she will be eligible despite being of Bangladeshi origin…-

March 6, 2025 at 11:23 pmYeah but isn’t there a time requirement for it? Like 7 years or something? Correct me if I’m wrong-

March 6, 2025 at 11:25 pmI don’t think there is a time requirement… but again I am not a lawyer… If I were you I would hire an immigration attorney to get a better idea… there maybe increased scrutiny because the applicant is Bangladeshi but the time limit should be standard as other nationalities…-

March 7, 2025 at 4:32 amFor OCI there is a time requirement.. You can apply only after 2 years considering marriage is registered in India .That too is a hassle in itself. But for Bangladesh and Pakistan descendents they are ineligible for OCI

March 7, 2025 at 3:40 amLawyer. Your wife is not eligible for an Overseas Citizen of India Card because she is from Bangladesh. She needs to get a work visa, then stay in India for 7 years and then apply for citizenship.
There are some interesting loopholes. Doubt they apply to your wife since you seem like a young couple.
Best of luck !

March 7, 2025 at 4:35 amWork Visa is itself a hassle but visa renewal requirement every year..What I could sense is X-2 Visa is best for long term stays and if she get job then convert to work visa.. Though it is a hassle in itself.
Thank you for the response
