I live in Bangalore (if that matters), and our Resident Welfare Association (RWA) is restricting pets from using common walkable spaces, citing cleanliness concerns.

Even pet parents who clean up after their pets, pour water on pee spots, and ensure hygiene are facing restrictions. The RWA insists that pets should only be walked on the roads, which are unsafe due to speeding vehicles and narrow streets. Failure to follow is being threatened with Penalty, and even restriction of services (garbage pick up, maid restrictions, restrictions to delivery services)

        Seeking Advice:

Legal Perspective: Are there any laws or guidelines that protect pet owners in such situations? What legal actions, if any, can we take to challenge these restrictions? Who should I reach out to challenge such decision.

Community Experience: Have other pet parents dealt with similar RWA rules? How did you handle or resolve the issue?
