May 2, 2025 at 5:46 amContext: I’m a student, and wanted to order some products for my mother. I ordered it and paid the money online as it had no COD option. After I placed the order I received no order confirmation email for around 6-8 hours. Hence I visited their website and found no contact number, after searching I found the number in the terms and conditions page, I called the number it was switched off and when searched on Truecaller, it was named as “Animal House”. These all situations prompted me to file a cyber complaint, but the next day I got the order confirmation email as well as the ordered products. I immediately withdraw my complaint on the portal. But it is becoming of of no use, when I contacted the police authorities. They said to visit the station and physically withdraw it. I did that to as well, both the business owner and my bank accounts were freezed. I was able to unfreeze my account but the owner’s bank account is still freezed. I have visited the police station around 3-4 times and nothing has been done. The owner calls me occasionally but I have no answer to give him. The portal mentions that the amount is freezed but the owner’s says that his entire account is freezed. This is the context based on I have two questions.
1. What can be done, what should I suggest the owner to do?
2. Can he sue me?, I am just a student and had no intention of causing him harm. Even if he files I’m prepared with all the emails exchanges, i just wanted to confirm that is there a merit for case to be accepted by the court -

May 2, 2025 at 10:39 amYou are not legally liable unless it can be proven that you acted in bad faith โ which your documented efforts clearly contradict. So, your safe.Ask the owner to file a formal representation with the police to close the case.
