EI hired a carpenter for my interior work in my small town in Rajasthan through my mother’s colleagues reference. My tuning with the main carpenter has been good so far, probably because we are similar age and he is an empath. The work is going well. I didn’t negotiate them on rates believing that the work would go smooth and they wouldn’t complain much if requirements change here and there.
The issue is that his staff (40M) has misbehaved with me multiple times over the last month. They commented multiple times that I’m confused in material selection when I was assessing my options. They criticised my selection saying it’s ugly and we have never used such colours. I humbly asked them it’s my choice so if you can make it, that’s all I want.
Couple of days back when in the morning I asked the main guy when will you have time today I want to finalise the order of next set of materials. Before he could say anything, his staff jumped in between and said – Sethi, don’t waste our time in the morning, come later (in Rajasthani)
I lost my cool for a second and shouted at him – did I ask you? You don’t need to speak out of your turn
In the evening when I was out for a walk, he cried in front of my mother and said there are people in my village who would rather spend 6 months in jail if they are insulted like this. I’m not a day wage labourer.

When I came back, my mother ridiculed me in front of them and said these are our guests and we can’t insult them. I was furious so told the guy if you don’t realise your mistake you don’t need to come here. Told the main guy you can pause/end the work here or get someone else for the remaining work.
My mom is worried about it. Lol she asked me to leave the house. The work is going to take 2 more weeks and I don’t trust the guy a tiny bit now
I know I could have handled it much better by talking to the main guy privately and telling him the issue. Instead of letting it pile up and blurting it out. I have no qualms in apologising to him, this isn’t an ego fight for me. He crossed my boundaries several times and I had to let him know. But it wasn’t to insult him or make him feel small or anything.
The day later he was complaining loudly that how 15 days of work has taken 30 days to another technician who had come for some work.
He is really testing my patience from day one. It’s not a good experience on either side.
Should I let go? Is it okay for him to give threats while crying in front of my mother? Are police in small towns going to come after me because they can make more from me than him

SKoi chaman chootiya hi hoga jo is level k logo se maathafodi kare. The only thing here worth rectifying to improve your life is to have. Protocol among your family, your mom. Whoever outsiders comes with any complaints like this, you people should simply send them ba k with words of assurance and discuss your side of story among yourself. No need ti give so much footage to outsiders. Ignore his threats. He s a chootiya.
