February 25, 2025 at 7:20 pmYes there are chances,am not legal advisor but if she mention somewhere like to her friends n people around her know that how stressful things are because of her relationship.
Then according to so called law u indirectly provoked her.
As I have seen in few suicide cases because of relationships.
Not saying people don’t commit suicide because of their other half but even if u are innocent there are chances.
I would say keep screenshot of her chats with you with number not name.
Anyway what’s case? -

February 25, 2025 at 7:21 pmif she explicitly mentions your name in the suicide note, then yes. and if you have strong evidence to support your side of the story, regardless of it being the truth or not, youll be fine…and alternatively, the outcome could be in your favour if your dad is a rich builder/businessman/politician and politically connected

February 25, 2025 at 7:50 pmNot a legal advisor, but from my limited knowledge:In India, if a girl dies by suicide following a breakup, the boy cannot be punished solely for ending the relationship unless there is clear evidence of abetment. Under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), abetment of suicide is a punishable offense if it is proven that the accused instigated, harassed, or mentally tortured the victim to the extent that she took her own life.
However, mere rejection or breaking up does not amount to a crime unless accompanied by sustained cruelty, threats, or humiliation.
Seek the assistance of a competent lawyer at the earliest and proceed with caution.

February 26, 2025 at 2:20 pmThey can still use 376. Which is sex under the pretense of marriage.-
CClevershruti5074
PARTICIPANT
February 26, 2025 at 2:27 pmThat’s a valid point. 376 can be invoked if it is alleged that consent for a sexual relationship was obtained through a false promise of marriage. However, for such charges to hold, the prosecution must prove that there was no genuine intention to marry from the beginning and that the promise was made solely to exploit the person.
If the relationship ended due to genuine reasons, and there was no deception at the outset, the courts have generally ruled in your favour.

February 26, 2025 at 3:01 pmAnd howβd he prove ? The woman will tell they agreed verbally. This law has been there even before the invent of social media. Clearly a lot of people were either forced to live or marry the woman-
CClevershruti5074
PARTICIPANT
February 26, 2025 at 5:12 pmYeah, ultimately, itβs the prosecutionβs responsibility to prove that the promise of marriage was false from the beginning. They need to establish that the accused never intended to marry and used the promise solely to obtain consent for a sexual relationship. If the relationship ended due to genuine reasons later on, it usually doesnβt hold up in court. The burden of proof lies with the prosecution, but these cases can still get complicated, therefore having a good lawyer is crucial.

February 25, 2025 at 8:04 pmWhether you get arrested depends on the exact circumstances of her death. If she names you in suicide note or her family blames you then the police will investigate it. That being said, simply breaking up will not amount to abetment to suicide. Other ingredients would be required for culpability in abetment to suicide. Please note that you can even get arrested at pre-trail stage during investigation, in which case you would need to take bail. -

February 25, 2025 at 9:21 pmSection of IPC 306:“*If any person abets the commission of suicide, they shall be punished with imprisonment for up to ten years and shall also be liable to a fine.*”
You can’t be Arrested if If the breakup was mutual due to normal relationship issues or If there is no evidence that you forced.
You can be Arrested If there is proof (messages, calls, witnesses) that you harassed, threatened, blackmailed, or emotionally tortured her in a way that led to her suicide or If her suicide note or messages mention your name, stating that you were responsible.
But see I would say that you should go and talk to her calmly before she end her life, maybe she change her decision. This can save her life and also help you to prevent any legal or social casualty. At the end I would say make your first priority to do anything to prevent her suicide.

February 25, 2025 at 11:03 pmNo.A suicide note does not amount as evidence. If someone’s committing suicide they’re considered to be of unstable mind and what they say cannot be used as evidence.
She’s just threatening you to get you back.
Also suicide is illegal. If she mentions it again, tell her you’ll file a police complaint against her and get the police to call her parents. That should calm her tits.

February 25, 2025 at 11:22 pmDon’t listen to any smart legal mumbo…. If you have apprehension that your girl has symptoms of depression and suicides then stay away if you don’t understand how to handle. Evidence or not if you are connected with her as in anyway and FIR filed then remember the system is rihged and they don’t care, unko paisa banane ko milega.
In such cases police writes FIR without any material just on conjecture and summaries. Once FIR is longed then you will be rope into process to run to safe yourself which will cost lot of time, money or energy. Therefore long story shot your collected evidence means shit. Yeah for trial maybe helpful but by that time it would all be too late.

February 26, 2025 at 4:37 amLocal police station mein – uske and apne – ek letter de do about the whole scenario and why you are breaking up and that u will not be responsible for the suicide – keep copies with receivingInvolve your parents before hand
Agar case hoga bhi toh at least defence create ho jayega
Start collecting evidences
Start messaging her why you want to break up and why it is not working out in strategic ways
Keep all evidences intact
I donβt remember the punishment for abetment of suicide but if it is less than 7 years imprisonment then the police cannot arrest you
So if police comes for investigation, co-operate and answer everything nicely and engage a lawyer if something like this happens

February 26, 2025 at 5:54 pmNo one here talks about what the girl might be going through. My advice if you want to breakup its fine. But first talk to her. Sometimes, we get so caught up in our own feelings that we forget to hear what the other person is going through. Try to fix the relationship. If nothing yields breakup on mutual grounds, so that nobody needs to get hurt. -

I would recommend you to lawyer up if you think that she can commit suicide and get her signatures that if she commits suicide then you are not to be held responsible. that’s just the way our country is. women>men (legally) -

February 27, 2025 at 10:56 amYes, you can easily be arrested and harrassed. Someone mentioned that she needs to mention your name in her suicide letter, which is false. Indian law is a joke. Her parents can file a fake rape case against you and get you arrested. Her parents can also hold you responsible for her suicide without any proof. Even a 5 years old message in her phone is enough for police to arrest you and harass you. One police officer once arrested a guy in a rape case because the guy had messaged the girl a few years ago. The police officer was demanding a bribe of a few lakhs and he got caught red handed that’s why the case came out.
You may even get convicted because the lower judiciary is also a fing joke in India. You will get bail and then acquittal from the High Court though, that’s a guarantee. The High court will scold police and her parents for lying but no action will be taken. You may have to spend a few years in jail. -
