UHey everyone,
A friend of mine wants to add a third name to his existing two names. He’s not changing his name entirely, just adding an extra one. He knows the general process—getting an affidavit, publishing it in a newspaper, and then in the Gazette—but he’s unsure about one thing:
Does he need to update his academic certificates (10th & 12th), or will an affidavit be enough to prove that both names belong to the same person?
He has no issues updating his legal documents like Aadhaar, PAN, passport, and voter ID. But what about academic certificates? Does he need to get updated ones? Since he’s only adding a name (not replacing the old one), he’s wondering if he can skip this step. Will an affidavit be enough to prove that both names belong to the same person?
Would this affect his chances of studying or working abroad? Will an affidavit and updated legal documents be sufficient, or could this lead to verification issues?
If anyone has experience with this or knows the best approach, your advice would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!
