February 16, 2025 at 12:22 pmMy father (60M) recently retired and came into a lot of money. (50L)A friend is trying to give him investment advise. It started with just stocks here and there.
Now it has downright evolved into forcing him into outright fraudulent investment schemes. He shares fakes screenshots of his investment to convince him.
Some examples are:
– Signing up for Growtradematrix (https://www.scam-detector.com/validator/growtradematrix-com-review/ – very likely a scam). He tried to get my father on Whatsapp video call with Dubai-based investment advisor who tries to get him to share his screen. We saw this within time and asked him not to put money there.
– Sent a real estate broker to show him plots around who quoted prices several time less than the fare price for similar plots in the area.
– Got him into signup for [https://botbro.biz/](https://botbro.biz/) (in news yesterday for MLM an MLM scheme) and just today sent him msgs today that it has now become `https://algobot.biz/` and use that instead.
We are trying to convince our father but he isn’t in a great place mentally after retirement and displays bipolar behaviour which causes him to distrust us & not tell us things. We only happened to find these instances with overhearing conversations and asking him about it with proof; otherwise he just lies.
Is there a legal precedent for taking action against this person?

February 16, 2025 at 12:40 pmNo. But what you can do is to ensure the funds are locked into long term bank deposits or quality mutual funds or such sob that they cannot be accessed by your father. Also get your relatives and some elderly to visit the “friend” at his home and warn him to stay away from your Dad.

February 16, 2025 at 12:46 pmbest bet force your father to put the money in FD..Tell him you can take loan on FD which will save tax..
make it a joint FD with your Mom . so that bothe has to sign to break or take loan ..
talk to that uncle separately. ask him to sign a contract as gurantee for the money your dad invests .. tell him to put his house on the line ..or stop giving advise to your dad
File cybercrimme police cases against the scams ..

February 17, 2025 at 2:49 amYou need to tell that uncle that you’d fuck up his life if he doesn’t stop with this. Direct and done.
