February 12, 2025 at 11:21 pmI’m a 3rd-year BTech student at JECRC Foundation, and our college is organizing a fest called Renaissance. The issue is that we’re being forced to pay ₹600 for the event, whether we want to attend or not. Our faculty has even threatened that if we don’t pay, we won’t be allowed to sit for our internal exams.Last year, they did the same thing—those who refused to pay were literally made to leave in the middle of their exams. Now, they’re repeating this tactic, forcing us to fund an event that many of us have no interest in.
A friend and I tried to talk to our HOD about why we’re being compelled to pay, but she blatantly dismissed us, saying, “I don’t want to talk to you,” and even threatened that we wouldn’t be allowed to sit for exams or placements if we didn’t pay up.
This is completely unfair. We’re being extorted for money just so others who are interested can enjoy the fest. What can we do in this situation?

February 13, 2025 at 5:21 amIf a college can’t afford to host a fest without extorting students, they shouldn’t be hosting one at all. Forcing payments under exam threats is pure exploitation. Name and shame them—this needs to stop.Post about this on social media(not from your personal account), tagging relevant authorities like AICTE, UGC, and education ministers. Naming and shaming might force them to respond.

February 13, 2025 at 10:46 amNot legal but life advise. Colleges/Indian institutes operate like mafia. Just complete you years without mess, boost your teachers ego and leave. Nothing revolutionary is going to happen if you try to fix the situation. it’s a deliberately made design not that glitch you are thinking to fix. There are many ways an college can screw your academics that will haunt you for really long time.
