February 9, 2025 at 8:34 pmCaught smoking a cig by the police….had just my phone number and dad’s name taken …..no photographs or tickets were issued ….need help cause I’m freaking out if I am screwed and wether I would have to pay up later .No fines or tickets were issued right then and there

Witholding that information would have resulted in arrest. But that is all, thatβs all you are obligated to answer, name and address. They inquired, you answered. They will leave it at that. -

A tobacco cigarette?
That would be an offence u/ S4 COTPA and prosecuted u/ S25 COTPA and at worst it could mean a court visit challan of βΉ1000.
Seeing that they let you go without one, it would be okay and it was all likely theatrics.P.S. It used to be just βΉ200 with an onsite challan, but the Central government rightly thought it was not stringent enough.

I was not asked to do anything just had my number ,full name and job asked …no challan’s given or fine payed…is it possible they can do something online ?
