February 4, 2025 at 7:29 pmWhose caste does the child get? I read somewhere that its the fathers caste that goes but then in certain cases, they can get the mother’s caste? I also read about cases in tamil nadu where someone decided to keep their child as casteless. Is it possible in all states? Also if the child is given no caste then can the child ‘s future kid also have to go casteless or can it take its grandparents caste?
Here the mother belongs to obc while father is from general, does that make any difference when choosing which caste goes to the kid?I would love to go the casteless route but haven’t heard much about it, are there any cons?

February 4, 2025 at 7:41 pmAs far as i know, there is no judgment on this particular issue but a SC judgement has clarified that the caste of a person does not change upon marriage. For eg if a general woman marries a person from obc, she cannot get the benefits reserved for that caste.I think since no clarification has been given, you can choose either of the parentβs caste or can even decide to go casteless
