Hey everyone, I’m a law student, and something’s bugging me. A lot of our profs are full-time teachers, which is fine, but they also still use the title “Advocate.” I’m pretty sure they haven’t surrendered their practicing licenses, which I thought they had to do for full-time teaching. Isn’t that a conflict of interest or something? Is this even allowed? It seems kinda misleading, honestly. Any insights from lawyers or anyone who knows about this?”

Why is it a concern. Let someone survive in this economy.

You can always raise a complaint with the state bar with proofs

Ideally they are not supposed to, but nobody cares. As long as they aren’t actively practicing, its not a ground for termination from job.

It’s not seen as a big deal. Cause it really doesn’t harm anyone if you think about it. Practising as advocates would only make them better law professors.
