February 3, 2025 at 2:38 pmHi
I have a 2 bhk flat and the flat above mine is owned by a politician. There has been leakage from his floor inside my bed room.I have called, texted and met him multiple times to get the floor repaired. I infact asked him to give me permission to get the leakage prepared at all my expenses. He would not listen. He would not answer the call. Has has rented out the flat to someone else. I have tried reaching out through building society as well, he doesn’t respond to them as well
What are the measures available to get through this? The water drips on the bed making it difficult to sleep. The leakage has reached columns as well.
Feeling helpless. What’s the way out? I live with my family so want no troubles

February 5, 2025 at 5:55 amAsk society to fix it from their budget, as per society law they have rights to force break into the apartment if the owner doesn’t respond.-

February 4, 2025 at 5:56 amWrtie to the society. If that fails, issue a legal notice through lawyer to the owner stating structural risks. If fails, write to the local municipal body.-

February 4, 2025 at 8:36 amOne of my friend of friend had a similar incident where water is leaking from floor above but the tenant is not fixing it nor allowing him to fix it, Reason given: It’s my floor i would only fix if i want to.So he took a drill machine and started putting holes in the ceiling in the middle of the night every day and literally broke the top floor’s bahroom area, quarrel and his response, it’s my ceiling i will do whatever i want to, after few days complaint went and police came and finally the other guy came to a agreement to fix the issue.
From that point, I added it to my toolkit and if i ever buy a apartment and ended up in a situation like this, i would pick this brahmastra if other methods doesn’t work.
