        Looking for legal advice.

My brother-in-law has been missing for 1+ years after a financial fraud in which he lost quite a significant money from his investors (which includes some of his in-laws).

Now his wife’s father wants to get them divorced (via court order) and get her remarried as he is worried about her future. We are supportive of this as we too believe she has right to better life nad blame my brother-in-law for everything.

The girl’s dad will be sending a legal notice to initiate the proceedings for divorce it seems. He called my father-in-law and requested him to accept the legal notice once he comes.

We are not sure about what the repurcsions of my father-in-law accepting a legal notice on behalf of his son is as he is still missing and we have no way to contact him.

Can someone here with legal knowledge please guide?

The legal notice is served to the respondent, which is your brother-in-law in this case and not the father-in-law (unless he has PoA from his son).
A proper service is crucial. Improper service can lead to delays and, in rare cases, the entire proceeding being invalidated.

Thanks. Is there any legal implication on my father in law if he accepts the notice?
