January 31, 2025 at 3:12 amSo i work in a manufacturing company in a management role. When i joined this company, the joining letter stated that the work days are mon to fri with hours from 8am to 6pm with 30 min lunch break in between. This makes it 10 hours a day and 50 hours a week. But the same offer letter states that the work hours are 48 hours a week. We don’t have anything like a weekly 2 hour permission allowance. Also the labours here work from 7am to 4pm from mon to sat which makes it 54 hours a week. I read somewhere that the legal restrictions for work hours are 48 hours a week including lunch hours.
Am i legally wrong or is my company crossing the hour limits or is there any loophole being utilised here?
