January 30, 2025 at 1:58 pmMy friend works for a healthcare company serving the US market. Last year, due to personal reasons (his sisterβs wedding and health concerns), he underperformed and was put on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). During the appraisal cycle, the company denied him a raise, citing his past performance, which he accepted without issue and continued working. Now, heβs facing new challenges:
* In early January 2025, he applied for leave for February, but it has still not been approved.
* This week, he suddenly received an email stating that he is being put on a PIP again, without any cause or clarity. When he asked for an explanation, none was provided.
* Last year, he had an external job offer, but the company refused to let him go without serving his full notice period. He even offered to buy himself out, but in the end, he lost the opportunity.
* It now feels like the company is playing with him, causing unnecessary stress and making his work environment difficult. What are his options here? Is there anything he can do to challenge the PIP? Any legal or professional steps he should consider?

January 30, 2025 at 2:22 pmI mean ofc, he would do that.He is the sole earner of his family, so after wedding and medical reasons. He needs to be in the job – he has been trying to find a job since last 5+ months and not been lucky so far.
