January 27, 2025 at 7:11 pmHi everyone,Iโm in a very distressing situation and could really use some advice. Last year, I rented my car on Zoomcar from May 30th to June 2nd. Since then, I have not gotten my car back. Itโs been almost 9 months, and dealing with Zoomcar has been a nightmare.
After repeated attempts to get in touch, their lawyer finally called me and informed me that my car has been impounded by the Bihar police. Apparently, the person who rented my car used it to smuggle a huge quantity of alcohol. Since the smuggler wasnโt caught during the incident, they charged meโthe car ownerโas an accused.
The lawyer told me I need to:
Go to Bihar to get bail for my name.
File cases in the civil court, DM court, and then the high court to get my car back. They also said Zoomcar cannot help me further.
I hired a lawyer to handle this, but after 9 months, there has been no progress. This situation has taken a massive toll on my mental health. My family, work, and studies are all suffering, and Iโm experiencing severe anxiety and depression because of this ordeal.I feel completely helpless and stuck. Has anyone faced a similar issue or can guide me on what to do next? Are there any legal steps I can take against Zoomcar for their negligence or lack of support?
Any advice or suggestions would mean the world to me. Thank you in advance!

January 27, 2025 at 10:53 pmThe agreement on their website seems to suggest that zoomcar has no role to play other than that of a facilitator. The internet is full of complaints about Zoomcar especially with regard to the persons leasing the car giving fake details. The rental agreement says that the car may not be used for illegal purposes but that won’t be enough to get back your vehicle. You first need to get your name off the FIR or get the court to dismiss the charges. A criminal case hanging over your head is more serious than a car.
You can file a case against zoomcar if they were in charge of checking the lessee’s documentation. But even that will be a longshot.
