MTo give a brief description, since 2018 batch had their internship, interns were allotted a new hostel which was bigger in size and came with an attached bathroom.
Due to lack of rooms this year as the administration was busy prioritising paramedics and residents (who pay for these rooms unlike us, so that means more money for them) we weren’t allotted better rooms. Infact, 2 months back they randomly release a notice giving us our new room numbers in double occupancy. And shifting from single to double occupancy is outright inconvenient especially looking at the different work hours roommates would be having. There’s a document of hostel SOPs signed by authority in 2022 which says undergraduates are to have the highest preference in hostel allotment but they missed to mention interns but everyone at that time knew that interns were counted in that UG category even though it’s not written in particular on the document, so can we use that??
So what do we want? Fighting for better rooms? No, this new director has been a tyrant would be an understatement and our batch is fine living in our already settled rooms (smaller and common washrooms but single occupancy). We just want to finish this mbbs thingy and get out of here asap. But a notice which was released today has really concerned us threatening to rusticate us and stop our stipends. We’re considering legal routes (a senior did win a case against director last year) but still exploring, so I’m looking for suggestions in here.
I agree that technically being the authority, they can ask us to shift but can they rusticate us and stop our stipends for this sole reason?
(We are not planning to go on a strike so we’ll be doing our hospital duties as per usual)
