I bought an already-built house 12 years ago, but the khata is still not transferred to my name. Recently, I found out that I have been paying property tax only for the ground floor all these years. However, my house actually has a ground floor plus one additional floor (it’s built on a half site).
Now, I am planning to apply for khata transfer through BBMP.
* Will this mismatch in property tax (only ground floor recorded) cause problems during the khata transfer?
* Will BBMP fine me for not paying tax for the first floor?
* Should I update my property tax to include both floors first and then apply for the khata transfer?
