January 17, 2025 at 7:03 pmMy mother has been dragged into a cheque bounce case for 10 years now. My uncle created a shelf company and made my mom the director. Then he cut a cheque to some builder and gave him a date. This guy cashed it before the date my uncle told him. The bounce cheque case went to court. My uncle passed away from cancer 10 years ago. And his son told my mom that heโll handle it. Now he lost the case, which then went to high court, he told my mom not to attend court heโll do, but he didnโt go, and now a warrant is out for my mom. She is under a lot of stress because my grandmom has dementia and has to be taken care of. My cousin apparently appealed in high court and lost. Can you please advise on what can my mother do legally to get out of this mess?Would really appreciate some concrete solutions, I donโt handle the stress my mother is under.

January 17, 2025 at 7:43 pmLawyer here.Directors are not liable unless personal knowledge of the transaction. However exact situation can only be assessed after examination of documents.ย
Appeal to SC in the only remedy left.ย
