I have been employed with an entity for 4 years. My offer letter had notice period mentioned as 30 days. Now, my role was changed through an internal job posting. For the new role, I was only given a one pager offer letter with only my new designation and new salary mentioned. I eventually found a new opportunity in another company in less than 3 months from this change and decided to move out. Suddenly, I see my notice period in the system is shown as 90 days.

I was not given any intimation in writing about this change in my new offer letter, nor is there any policy about 90 day period nor did I agree to it. When raised to the HR, they are saying its a lead position and therefore you will have to serve 90 days, however I am very low in the organization hierarchy.

Legally speaking, can the company force me to serve 90 days or do I have a strong case to get out in 30 days?

You can ask them to show the signed agreement with the 90 day clause.
