January 16, 2025 at 6:02 am[olx ad](https://www.olx.in/item/for-sale-houses-apartments-c1725-2-bhk-independent-builder-floors-000-sq-ft-in-vinod-nagar-delhi-iid-1793120756)So, a couple of months ago, I found this great deal on OLX for a house. The guy seemed legit and even gave me a signed agreement after I paid him ₹50,000 as a security deposit. But since then, it’s been two months, and he hasn’t handed over the keys or refunded the money.
I went to his place to confront him and learned he’s a serial scammer. Turns out, he’s done this to at least four other people, and they’re also coming by regularly to ask for their money back.
Fed up, I decided to file a police complaint. The surprising part? When we called him to the police station, he actually showed up and promised to return the money in three days, asking us not to file an FIR.
Honestly, I don’t trust this guy at all. I feel like he’s just buying time to pull another stunt. What do you all think? Should I go ahead and press for an FIR anyway, or give him the three days to pay up?
Any advice on what else I can do would be appreciated.

January 16, 2025 at 12:41 pmHe will leave the city for 50k. Assuming he scammed multiple people, it still couldn’t be more than 10L, because at that point, there would likely be an FIR against him.Country is far fetched maybe city

January 16, 2025 at 11:50 amLawyer here.Immediately File an FIR. Looking at Olx post, it seems that your Thana would probably be the Madhu Vihar/Mandawali Police Station. If the police does not register your FIR, then file a Complaint/Petition before the Magistrate under Section 175(3) of the BNSS through your lawyer.
