January 10, 2025 at 8:26 pmMy father died due to chronic illness and left some FD/RD/savings in post office and bank.I go to bank and post office and due to wrong spelling of my name in nominee, they denied the withdrawal
I contact one lawyer with the help of my friend and discuss everything with him. When I ask for consultation charges, he told me bring the documents and he with lead the case.
Then I found the indemnity process and got FD/RD/ savings. Now that lawyer asking consultation charges of 5000.. I denied and told him he need to discuss earlier [i offer 2000]
Now he is sending me notices of 75k for there services..what to do

January 10, 2025 at 10:48 pmJust a scare tactic. If these were just preliminary talks, they won’t be considered consultation, especially since there was no agreement. You don’t need to pay anything. He can send as many notices as he wants.
He’s likely asking because he knows you got some money from your dad and would be more open to giving him the money to avoid the hassle..
If it was 1000 that would be okay. 5k is a scam since it was a pretty simple solution (and if you mentioned the details, he likely knew it). Don’t pay anything btw. If you do, that’ll show you knew this was a chargeable call.
