May 6, 2026 at 7:29 amTLDR: Husband’s side and wife’s side verbally and physically assaulted each other as their new born was not well. The wife scratched the husband and pushed his father, the husband slapped her. Threats from wife and Co. Need legal advice.Hello Everyone, Greetings!
Telling you the story from a third person perspective, completely unbiased and just whatever happened.
So recently, like 2 weeks ago, my friend’s brother and his wife had a baby. The happiness was short-lived as the baby was put in an incubator and was constantly being monitored due to some complications.
Everyone was very stressed. Last Friday, while both families were together at the hospital, relatives from the husbandโs side came to console and support them, but no one from the wifeโs side showed up despite being called. Since the family isnโt financially well off (total income around โน45k per month), the husbandโs relatives themselves offered financial help for expenses. He never asked for money and assured them he would only use it if absolutely necessary, otherwise he would return it.
The wife got irked and shouted at the security for allowing people to come to them. It was a general area, a corridor and if you had kin inside, you could come in and visit. She made a scene with the management and legit yelled at them to fire the poor watchman, like wtf. The husband begged her not to make a scene and brought her inside and sent away the relatives.
The wife’s mother was constantly bad mouthing the husband and his parents. No provocation, she started it out of sheer frustration that she was unable to video call their relatives to show the baby. Initially, the husband’s parents tried to reason with her saying it’s not in their control but she wouldn’t budge. It led to arguments and she said some very personal, demeaning things to them. (Like sell yourself on the road to the husband’s mother and all etc.)
In the fit of rage, the husband’s father also verbally abused her.
Listening to that, the wife went mad and started scolding the husband which led to a full blown fight, in the hospital. The wife pushed the husband, caught his collar and hit his back (in front of everyone) telling him not to come anymore to see them.
The husband, who was paying for everything, did exactly that and didn’t visit them for 2 days.
After 3 days, the hospital called him telling the father must be present for some consent forms so he went. He and his wife didn’t speak and were going about the formalities when the wife’s mother said some extremely derogatory slurs about the husband’s family, out of nowhere. The husband also gave it back equally.
Out of extreme anger, the wife scratched the husband’s face, pushed him through the stairs while they both were yelling at each other, hit him and talked very foul about his father and pushed the old man to the side too. This triggered the husband and he slapped his wife in the hospital.
(Everyone around, including me witnessed all these and boy it was not right on his part to hit someone who was physically much inferior to him.)
It caused bleeding from the lips and the wife’s mother took photographs and circulated them in all the groups possible.
Within 30 mins, 20-25 relatives showed up from both sides and made next level scene in front of the hospital. The guy’s parents realised he screwed up big time by hitting her, and told the other side let’s go home and settle but they were not willing and wanted to make a huge scene there itself (understandable).
The husband apologized profusely and said it was out of frustration but the wife and her mother didn’t accept it. Their family shouted that once the baby is discharged, they will make his life a living hell legally and his life is now over. They said “hum kya hai dikhayenge”. Ironically, it is a love marriage having dated for 4+ years.
As of now the local cops were just intimated, but no one proceeded seriously but he’s gotten 2 threatening calls from their side.
Any legal advice to safeguard himself from this mess?
Thank you!

May 6, 2026 at 7:40 amDamm, she called him names, threw mud at the family, hit him and scratched him but him slapping her was out of line because she is a woman?-

May 6, 2026 at 10:10 amThe entire narrative shifted after he slapped her. She was crying like she was possessed, and “ladki pe haath kaise uthaya” took over and people didn’t bother about what she did or most importantly even about the baby.

May 6, 2026 at 9:10 amOut of all the chaos, no one even bothered for that little baby who has just entered this world. The journey for the baby starts with Chaos. How often we don’t realise that beyond our personal frustration or opinions, our situation at hand is more important especially when it is about a new born.
Instead of taking the stand or responsibility of a situation, people start playing blame games. That’s actually the most convenient way.
Better you ask your friend to consult a lawyer ASAP. Lawyer will be the right person to guide him and bring him out of chaos.-

May 6, 2026 at 10:17 amExactly. The first line is exactly what even I felt at that moment. ๐ฏ No one, and I mean nobody including the parents and grandparents were thinking about the baby. It was an ego trip all along and till night nobody was at the hospital by the baby. All parties went home later to extend the fight there and the mom returned to the hospital at night and didn’t let her husband come.Thank you and appreciate you for the advice! They’re in contact with a lawyer friend but he says the case against the husband is bad because he hit her and that changes things greatly.
I just hope it doesn’t get too violent ๐

May 6, 2026 at 10:07 amYes bro! When the first fight happened, I thought my friend was exaggerating it but in the second instance I was there, I witnessed everything first hand because I had gone to drop them to the hospital. It was an absolute disaster. Felt very low and dejected after the fiasco.

May 6, 2026 at 10:32 amIt’s the mother of the wife, who deserved those slaps. All the fight for no.apparent reason other than ego. Let the.mother of the boy file a case against the wife alleging assault and intimidating, and father could be made a co complainant.
They should file the complaint first, and any subsequent complaint by the wife about assault, will be viewed as a counterblast.
These are bailable offences and doesn’t need arrest or incarceration. Am sure hospital has CCTV footage of all these events, secure a copy.
