Hello everyone, I M25, living in Hyderabad, Banjara Hills as a tenant in a gated society.

I have been paying my rent on time, causing no trouble to my flatemates/ neighbours/ society or anyone in that matter.

I have been parking my bike in designated spot for past 5 months.

Today, as usual when I returned from work I had parked my bike in the designated spot, which has a gate being closed everyday at 1030pm, right next to it is a car parking spot for the building.

Around 1020pm I stepped down to take my bike out, kept my bike in unoccupied car parking spot (mind you that place has been empty since I have come) only for 40mins considering I have to leave for my friend’s medical emergency (she got into a bike accident with minor bruises and needed medicine plus someone to take care of her for tonight).

When I came down at 1105pm I found my bike lying on the ground, with handlebar bent, bar end cap damaged, leg guard damage and bike petrol leaking, additional damage is petrol tank paint getting removed because of bike.

I called for security guard, he wasn’t present then, I ended up meeting building’s secretary and his son initially asking me if I had parked the bike which I agreed to.

Then, they proceeded to yell, threaten, abuse me for parking at that spot and not listening to my reason at of why I had parked the bike in that spot.

Picked my bike, saw the damages, didn’t had the bandwidth to take on the argument as I was getting late to buy medicines and reach at my friends place.

Have messaged my landlord regarding this, will get a reply by tomorrow morning.

Do let me know if I should take any legal action, file a police complaint or leave the matter as it is.

When you found your bike in that condition, was a car parked in that space? Is there any chance your bike fell because of a side stand failure? Try to get cctv footage if possible

Cctv footage first. Legal battle will elongate. Just use the footage against them

even if parking there annoyed someone throwing or damaging the bike is a completely different thing and that is probably why this feels so upsetting to you especially when you were already dealing with an emergency situation the part that usually matters most now is whether you can connect the damage to a specific person because otherwise these society disputes quickly become denials and counter allegations later have you checked if any cctv near the gate parking or lift area might have captured who actually pushed the bike over before footage gets overwritten

Even if I move towards legal, I don’t think so I will have much response because the person who did this owns like 4-5 flats in the building, might have some political connection.

I have been given the option to file a police complaint by my landlady, but considering factor like I’ll be moving out soon from this building to another location, I don’t foresee any repercussions.

Yes, I am very furious with what happened but me alone with my power, unknown to the city won’t do much

                    Thanks for the suggestion stranger.
