May 5, 2026 at 12:23 pmI know some women who saved money and then moved out of the house. They even got jobs but then their parents filed missing report on them at the police station. The police tracked them and then forced these women to go back to their parent’s house. These police even sided with the parents when these girls complained that they left the house because of abuse. Those women are 18+, legally an adult and as per law, they can live wherever they want to. But it’s really sad that these women aren’t even getting legal help to escape from them. And it’s even worse when the legal authorities who are supposed to help you aren’t helping and are siding with your abusers. They aren’t even getting help from the women’s commission, in fact they are telling them that if police is already involved in that case then they can do nothing cuz their job is to only inform the police. They aren’t even getting help from the NGOs cuz all NGOs aren’t good. Those parents are so toxic that they don’t even let their daughters earn money on their own and impose too much restrictions on them. This isn’t legal but unfortunately many Indian women are still going through that.
Is there anything these women can do legally to protect themselves from their toxic parents and corrupt legal authorities who are forcing them to go back home? If you know about some good NGOs where they help such women in every corner of the country then please let me know.
