UHi everyone, I need some legal guidance regarding my ongoing matrimonial case in Bihar.
My marriage has been about 2 years old.
My wife has said she does not want to live with me, but on my lawyer’s advice, I have been stating in court that I am willing to continue the marriage.
The matter is currently in Family Court, and I have not received bail yet in one of the related cases.
My wife has filed for maintenance of ₹40,000 per month, but currently, I am not earning.
I have a few questions:
What are the legal consequences if a person hides property/assets during proceedings in Family Court or High Court? How strictly do courts verify this?
Since my wife is not willing to live with me, how long can a contested divorce take in Bihar after 2 years of marriage?
Given that I am currently unemployed, how does the court decide maintenance amount? Can ₹40,000 still be imposed?
Can the court grant her rights/claims over my property in such cases, or is it limited to maintenance only?
